Quta Privacy Policy

Effective date: 30 September 2026  |  Version: 1.0
This Privacy Policy explains how Quta collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal data when you use the Quta app and website.

1. Data controller

Quta is operated by Longo Technologies Limited. For purposes of applicable data-protection law, the operator is responsible for determining why and how personal data is processed through Quta.

Registered address: Longo Technologies Limited, Ferry Street, Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania

Privacy / DPO contact: privacy@quta.app

2. Information we collect

The exact information processed depends on the features you use. Quta may process the categories below.

Account and profile information

Location information

If you turn on Nearby, Quta may process precise device location internally to calculate proximity. Quta is designed so that other ordinary users receive proximity or distance information rather than your raw latitude/longitude. You can turn Nearby location sharing off.

Contacts

If you choose Quta’s optional device-contact matching feature, Quta may request access to your device contacts to help identify people you already know who use Quta. Contact access should be requested only when you choose this feature. Quta should not publicly expose your private address book.

3. Why we use personal data

4. Permissions

Quta should request optional device permissions only when the relevant feature needs them. Location permission should be requested when you choose to use Nearby. Contacts permission should be requested only if you choose contact matching. You may deny optional permissions, although the related feature may be unavailable.

5. Legal bases and consent

Quta processes personal data where necessary to provide the service you request, to protect legitimate security and safety interests, to comply with legal obligations, or where you have given consent for optional processing. Where consent is the appropriate basis, you may withdraw it, subject to the consequences explained at the time.

6. Sharing and service providers

Quta does not sell personal data. Quta may share limited personal data with trusted service providers that help provide cloud infrastructure, database hosting, authentication, SMS verification, notifications, diagnostics or security. Quta may also disclose information where required by lawful process or reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate serious abuse or comply with law.

7. Hosting and international data transfers

Quta’s current production database is hosted using Supabase infrastructure in the Southeast Asia (Singapore) region. This means personal data may be stored or processed outside Tanzania. Quta will handle cross-border transfers in accordance with applicable Tanzanian data-protection requirements, including appropriate legal, technical and organisational safeguards and any required regulatory permissions.

8. Data retention

Quta retains personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including account operation, safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution and legal compliance.

When an account is deleted, active-account personal data will be deleted or anonymised except where lawful retention is necessary. Backup copies may remain for up to 90 days before being overwritten or deleted under the applicable backup cycle. Safety, fraud or legal records may be retained longer where necessary and lawful.

9. Account deletion

You may initiate deletion through Quta’s in-app account settings and through the public deletion page on the Quta website. Quta may verify account ownership before completing deletion. Temporary deactivation or suspension is not treated as permanent account deletion.

10. Security

11. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to be informed, access personal data, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent where applicable, request portability where applicable and lodge a complaint with the relevant data-protection authority.

Privacy requests: privacy@quta.app

12. Children and child safety

Quta is intended for users aged 18 years and above. Quta prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation, grooming, sextortion involving minors, trafficking and child sexual abuse material. Child-safety concerns may be reported to childsafety@quta.app.

13. Changes to this Policy

Quta may update this Policy when features, data practices, service providers or legal requirements change. Material changes may be communicated through the app or website, and the effective date and version number will be updated.
