Quta Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account, accessing Quta or using Quta services, you agree to these Terms of Use and acknowledge the Quta Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not create or continue using a Quta account.
2. Eligibility and age requirement
Quta is intended for users aged 18 years and above. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. Quta may suspend or remove an account where there is a reasonable basis to believe age or identity information is false.
3. Account registration and security
- Provide accurate registration information and keep it reasonably up to date.
- Keep your authentication credentials and access to your device secure.
- Do not create an account using another person’s identity or impersonate a person or organisation.
- Do not sell, transfer or provide your account to another person.
- Notify Quta if you reasonably believe your account has been compromised.
4. Contacts
Quta may allow you to connect with users through Quta Contacts and may also offer optional contact matching from your device. If device-contact matching is offered, Quta will request permission before accessing device contacts and will use such access only for the disclosed matching purpose. Refusing this permission will not prevent use of unrelated Quta features.
5. Nearby and location
Nearby uses location information to help you discover Quta users within a relevant geographic area. Quta may store precise coordinates internally for the technical operation of Nearby, but other users should receive only privacy-preserving proximity or distance information rather than your raw latitude/longitude.
You may turn location sharing for Nearby on or off. When location sharing is off, Nearby may be unavailable or limited. Quta must not be used to stalk, track, threaten, intimidate or determine another person’s private residence.
6. Statuses, comments and media
Where enabled, Quta may allow users to post statuses, images, videos, comments, likes, views or replies. You are responsible for content you submit and must have the right to share it. Content must comply with these Terms, the Community & Safety Guidelines and applicable law.
7. Messaging and replies
Quta may allow users to communicate through Contacts, Nearby, status replies or other approved conversation flows. A user’s ability to message another user does not give permission to harass, threaten, pressure, scam or repeatedly contact that person. Users must respect blocks and requests to stop communication.
Do not assume Quta messages are end-to-end encrypted unless Quta expressly states in the application that verified end-to-end encryption has been implemented.
8. Prohibited conduct
- Harassment, bullying, stalking or threats.
- Hate, targeted abuse or incitement to violence.
- Impersonation, fraud, scams, spam or malicious links.
- Sexual exploitation, non-consensual sexual content or sexual coercion.
- Child sexual abuse or exploitation, grooming, sextortion involving minors, trafficking or child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
- Sharing another person’s private information without lawful authority or consent.
- Using Quta to facilitate illegal goods, services or conduct.
- Attempting to bypass blocks, security controls, rate limits or other protective measures.
9. Blocking and reporting
Quta may provide Block User and Report User controls. Blocking is designed to restrict interaction with the blocked user. Reporting sends a safety or policy concern to Quta for review. Quta may review relevant profile, message, status or technical information reasonably necessary to investigate a report.
10. Safety when meeting people
Users are responsible for exercising judgment when interacting with people discovered through Nearby or other Quta features. Consider meeting in public places, telling a trusted person where you are going, protecting your financial information and leaving any situation that feels unsafe. Quta does not guarantee another user’s identity, intentions or conduct.
11. User content and licence
You retain ownership of content you create. You grant Quta a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit and technically process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate and improve the service, comply with law and enforce these Terms.
12. Privacy and personal data
Quta’s handling of personal data is described in the Quta Privacy Policy and Data Handling & Retention Notice. Certain features require optional permissions such as location or contacts. You may decline optional permissions, but the related feature may not work.
13. Enforcement, suspension and termination
Quta may warn, restrict, suspend or terminate accounts, remove content or limit features where reasonably necessary to protect users, enforce these Terms, respond to fraud or abuse, comply with law, or address serious safety concerns. Serious child-safety or unlawful conduct may result in immediate action.
14. Account deletion
Users may initiate account deletion through the application and through the public account-deletion resource on the Quta website. Deletion is different from logging out or temporary suspension. Associated personal data will be deleted or anonymised subject to lawful retention for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, safety or legal obligations.
15. Intellectual property
The Quta name, logo, software, interface, documentation and other Quta-owned materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Quta intellectual property to users.
16. Third-party services
Quta may use third-party service providers for cloud hosting, databases, authentication, SMS verification, notifications, diagnostics and security. Such providers may process limited information on Quta’s behalf subject to applicable safeguards and contractual terms.
17. Service availability
Quta aims to provide a reliable service but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Service may be temporarily limited for maintenance, upgrades, security, legal compliance or emergency measures.
18. Disclaimer and limitation
Quta provides a platform for discovery and communication and does not guarantee the accuracy of every profile, the identity or intentions of every user, or the safety of every offline interaction. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Quta is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss caused solely by another user’s conduct or misuse of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
19. Changes to these Terms
Quta may update these Terms when services, safety requirements or applicable law change. Material changes may be notified in-app or on the website and may require renewed acceptance. The effective date and version number will be updated.
20. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, subject to mandatory rights that may apply to a user under applicable law.
